Dear Younger Alan

Dear Younger Alan,

I hope this letter finds you well, though I know life can be quite a roller-coaster at times. As I sit down to write to you from twenty years in the future, I want to share some thoughts and reassurances that might help you navigate the path ahead.

looking back

Exploration of the Concept: First and foremost, know that it's completely okay to be who you are. There will be times when doubt creeps in, and you may question your abilities and decisions. Remember, these feelings are part of growing, and they will shape you into the resilient and wise person you are becoming.

Personal Insights and Reflections: Over these years, I've learned the importance of embracing imperfections and cherishing the moments of pure joy and connection with others. Life is not always easy, but it's the challenges that build character and strength. Hold on to your values, as they will guide you through the toughest of times.

Practical Guidance: Take control of your finances proactively. DO NOT just hand over the paycheck! If you do, you will find yourself without financial security. Be wise and diligent with your money, ensuring you have control over your financial decisions.

Trust your instincts, especially about Milly. Your hunches are spot-on! Believe in yourself and the signals your intuition sends you. The sooner you move away with Julie and your future children, the better! You will all be much happier for it. Proximity to Milly will drain your family of time, energy, and emotional support if you remain close.

Milly is not a good person! Remove yourself from this situation however you need to!

Work with Julie, and be patient. She's been through her own struggles and needs your understanding and kindness. Her abuse has been on par, if not worse, than yours! Together, you can heal and build a strong and loving family unit.

Regarding your family of origin, trust your instincts here too. When mom passes, you will break contact, but in hindsight, it should have happened sooner for your own peace and well-being.

Conclusion: In the end, know that you are loved, supported, and valued more than you realize. Keep moving forward, and trust that the journey, with all its ups and downs, is worthwhile.

Call to Action: So, dear Alan, embrace each day with an open heart. You've got this!

With warm regards and much love,

Your Future Self
